MVP BASKETBALL

​

Each week, during the basketball season, two of the areas top 8th grade middle school teams will be selected to participate in the MVP Basketball Marquee Matchup Middle School Game of the Week. This event is designed to reward the student athletes for their hard work and dedication during the season, both on the court and in the classroom.  The players will have a chance to showcase their skills in a contest that will be televised online with a play by play man and color commentator, and will be played in a festive environment complete with a live DJ and in game announcer.

 

The weekly contests will feature the best players and teams the area has to offer.  The games will include the annual City Championship Game and  will feature the two teams with the best records that will battle it out in the Area Championship Game.  Each of these games feature live, online coaches interviews and post game player interviews.  The areas top officials will be brought in not only to call the game, but also interact and serve as a role model to the participants.

Following each game, a special guest speaker is brought in to talk to the players about one of life's important messages concerning character, accountability and leadership.  The players, coaches, guest speaker, and officials will then be able to socialize and interact over a catered dinner.

 

In the inaugural Game of the Week in 2017, Blackhawk Christian Middle School defeated the Towles Tigers in a game that was viewed by over 3,400 people.  That game featured future Indiana Mr. Basketball,  and  Purdue Boilermaker, Caleb Furst and Jalen Blackmon, the Marion Giant's all time leading scorer and Miami Hurricane.

In 2024, the program was expanded to include the Showcase of Champions event.  The local FWCS, CYO, Lutheran and surrounding area Champions were all taken to the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown, Indiana to compete.  Playing at the site of the famous movie, Hoosiers, this venue and opportunity provided all of the players and their families a tremendous opportunity to enjoy a great evening of Basketball in true MVP Style.​​​​​

This event has become an extremely fun and exciting event enjoyed by all of the players, parents and fans.
